Since 1917, it has at the moment was an open-air market, and is one of the few places in Los Angeles seems to have changed too much in almost a century. Historic photos show the buyers about products and Diners enjoy a meal under counters neon concentrated. It is a little different today, with plenty of cheap seats (and smell delicious) food vendors selling a variety of dried chiles and restored, usually conventional neon.

Grand Central Market is a great place to people watch, or a cheap and quick meal. And it is a good place to go to when you click "go." - If you know what I mean

Updated July 30, 2014.

Marilyn Monroe in San Francisco

Most of the time Marilyn Monroe was spent in San Francisco during her relationship with Joe DiMaggio in San Francisco. Although some local tour guides try uninformed to say the couple has been married to St. Peter and Paul Church in North Beach, in fact, the ceremony took place at City Hall. After their marriage the couple lived for a time in the neighborhood of the city in 2150 Marine Street Beach.

Here you will find a wax figure of Marilyn Monroe in the Wax Museum Fishermans Wharf.

Final resting place of 1962; Marilyn Monroe & # 039

Updated July 30, 2014.

Marilyn Monroe was in a small cemetery on the west side of Los Angeles, the way it's always a little hard to find, buried. When you visit us, you are probably out there to find a few other people there in the same kind of search where you are. Marilyn and other celebrities are buried here Natalie Wood, Dean Martin, Rodney Dangerfield, Merv Griffin, Mel Torme, Truman Capote and Farrah Fawcett.

The history of the crypt directly above Marilyn Monroe is over-the-top as it is. It begins with the divorce of Joe DiMaggio in 1954, when Monroe sold two crypts Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park entrepreneur Richard Poncher. According to the Los Angeles Times, Poncher said to his wife: "When I die, if you do not like to head over Marilyn, I'll haunt the rest of my life" respected widow Elsie and sleep is Poncher. true - until 2009, when his final resting place of Poncher auction on eBay, they sell for $ 4.6 million by the need to earn money to pay their mortgage,

Sequoia is almost equidistant from Los Angeles or San Francisco, so it is a good choice, no matter where you live.

One of our favorite trip was a new San Francisco recently. Vantigo offers guided tours, visits to beer and oysters in classic VW Transporter experience. For beautiful and Lillie Belle (Beauty cream and red), Harvey added a blue devil beautiful classic name Harvey Milk.

San Andreas Fault in the Carrizo Plain

Updated July 6, 2014.

The picture above was taken at Soda Lake. The error leads directly down the hill to the water.

Located between I-5 and US Highway 101, Carrizo Plain is one of the least visited places in California, many residents are not aware of its existence condition. However, almost everybody has seen the classic image of the San Andreas Fault took air as the first page of this gallery presented - and was made directly on the Carrizo Plain.

Soda Lake Road is the northern end of the visitor center. You can also get there from the south on Highway 166 and CA Soda Lake Road to the north, but is driven through an unpaved dirt road 20 miles to get to the visitor center.

Carrizo Plain is very isolated, with nowhere to food, water and gasoline for many miles in all directions. It is very hot and inhospitable in the summer and the reception center is open from early December to late May. And last but not least - no cell phone reception in the area, either. It is be prepared up to you.

San Andreas Fault near Palm Springs

Updated July 6, 2014.

Near Palm Springs, the San Andreas fault is less well defined than in the north, the geological feature monolithic fracture into smaller parts, running in different directions. The cracks caused by ground fault Groundwater easy travel to the surface and are responsible for many desert oasis is along the east side of the Coachella Valley. You can see near an oasis in the Coachella Valley on the east side of I-10 (and to remain above the free throw line) 1000 Canyon Palms Preserve (29200 1000 Palms Canyon Rd) in the city of Thousand Palms, Ramon Road exit.

Perform all these little cracks also hot mineral springs, most of them near the city of Desert Hot Springs.

A better way to get the error near Palm Springs approach to take a jeep tour with an experienced guide. Our favorite is the San Andreas Fault Adventures Desert Adventures, which takes you into the canyons and along the fault through desert and oasis, (shown in the picture above) to a point where the Pacific Plate and the geological cross North America. For even more fun, take your Nightwatch Adventure (summer only), the much of the same ground cover, and ends with a spectacular view of the evening sky.

Go Greek in Berkeley: On stage, no ...

The official name is William Randolph Hearst Greek Theatre, but it is known locally as simply the Greek Theatre. It is part of an amphitheater of 8500 and operated by the University of California, Berkeley. and a nice place to enjoy a summer concert.

The Greek Theatre Berkeley Concert Event

Some concerts offered by Cal Performances, but others are organized by the promoter Another Planet Entertainment. The mix of artists is versatile. In the season 2013 artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Placido Domingo, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rock Band and Furthur rock, world reggae group Rebelution (founded by former Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh).

For classical concerts, public Berkeley is one of the best to be everywhere in California, who were in, they are quiet and attentive and kind to others -., But too late, which can delay the onset of the performance.

The Berkeley Greek Theater Location

The structure for over 100 years, built in a classical Greek style. The hillside location offers a magnificent view of the bay of San Francisco and parts of the campus (but only from the top of the property).

The Greek Theatre is wheelchair accessible. The ramp is in front of the cash register and there is no fall from the northern gate.

The opinions, likes and dislikes

All agree that the opinion of the Greek Theatre are spectacular, overlooking the campus, the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, San Francisco - a great time - Mount Tamalpais in Marin County.

I love the Greek by its size and the wide range of artists who respond. Parking can be a hassle, but the following tips can help you to minimize this.

Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews.

To enjoy concerts tips in the Greek theater in Berkeley

  • The seats in the sections on simple practical measures numbered backless or pillows. Has no matter what kind of mattress Mother Nature provided you can sit a bit soft, is a must. Cushions can be rented, but at a high price - or bring your own.
  • If you sit in the section of concrete measures, not better come early - only the amount of time you have extended to sit.
  • Food is available for purchase, but it can also bring your own, as long as you use it in a container permit. Large backpacks, coolers and picnic baskets are not allowed inside and can not bring alcoholic beverages - and cans and bottles, no matter what they contain
  • These items are not allowed: Strollers, large blankets, structured chairs, garden furniture, weapons of any kind, umbrellas scenarios. Pets are not allowed, but you can bring your service animal.

Provision Greek Theater Berkeley

The theater is located in a semi-circle with the following sections to find:

  • A flat ground near the stage (El Pozo)
  • The lower portions Bowl - A to F - have folding seats
  • A row of concrete "throne" runs along the top of the first section
  • The Tribune Tops - 1-10 - are backless, just action. The seats in row 20 (top row) a wall behind them, but it's cold up there, because it is less protected - and if you are in the seats on the sides, outside noise can creep onto the street below and the same Railroad Crossing City
  • A grassy area behind and above all seats. It has the best views of the area and is closer to the bar and toilets.

Seating options

If you read online reviews, especially if the examiner just a concert, it can be confusing. Some speak of the place only general admission, others speak of reserved seats. Both are true, depending on the specific concert you are attending. It then explains how each works. For more information, seating plans are on the EPA website

General admission only Setup: For some shows, all seats are "General Ticket", the flexibility to dance near the stage and enjoy the show longer allowed. For the shows, it is first come, first served and Greek theater veterans arrive early so you can be in the front row. Use the door of the hill next to the Bowles rooms instead of one at the box office, you can enter quickly.

Reserved seating configuration: are reserved for some shows, only the seats near the stage and others, the second floor is reserved. The grass is always general admission.

The Basics

  • The summer concert season is from May to October
  • Berkeley Greek Theater Schedule
  • Reservations are a good idea - sold Concerts

Getting to Berkeley Greek Theater

The theater is at 2001 Gayley Road, near the UC Berkeley campus.

With Bart: BART can with directions to your website. It's a mile walk from the theater on Shattuck BART station, which will take about 20 minutes.

Driving and parking: you some tips on where to park the Cal Performances website.

Some ancient Greek theater veterans suggest street parking place nearby. It is a strategy that can save you money, but it can be frustrating when something happens on campus. Depending on the time and day of the week, parking may be free for one part of your entire visit, even if there is no meter in the sidewalk. Parking enforcement is diligent in Berkeley, especially for concerts and is best to make sure you do not pay over the border and, until the rate can apply.
