Mission San Xavier

Some say that the mission of San Javier is the finest example of mission architecture in the United States, and I will not disagree. After visiting all 21 Spanish missions in California and others in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, I've never seen so beautiful.

Built between 1783 and 1797, the white walls of Mission San Xavier rise majestically from the surrounding desert. Outside is a white Moorish design, simple and elegant atmosphere, with an ornate entrance.

The mission shines with color, fresh, covering the altar, walls and vaulted ceiling. Nice if built at all times, it is even more fascinating because. Their age

Spanish missionaries established the Mission San Xavier Tohono O'odham instead of Bac locals call "where the water appears" as the Santa Cruz River, the subway is nearby. Father Eusebio Francisco Kino founded the mission here in 1700 and used it as a base to explore the area. Today it is an advantage when serving the Tohono O'odham parish church.

Besides small gifts to the mission of the store, there is a café on the ground, and on weekends, you can hire someone were created under a refuge from the sale of local Fry Bread.

As you visit the Queen Mary in Long Beach

  • Opening times: Open daily
  • Not required for general admission for some special events, but necessary: reservations. Buy your tickets in advance in order to facilitate entry
  • Cost: Fee paid parking
  • Location: Downtown Long Beach
  • How long: Wait a few hours
  • Best time to visit: The best days are nice, but each time is also

The Queen Mary originally built in 1937, made his 516th and final voyage to Long Beach, California, December 9, 1967 Queen Mary is at the Port of Long Beach, now based a hotel and tourist attraction. Guides voice echoed in the room now empty machines in which generated 27 hp boiler once 160,000. Long Beach was over she sailed the oceans, and the ship became an icon in his hometown.

Visit Queen Mary

While not as big and fancy as today mega-Shirts cruise ships, the Queen Mary is an elegant reminder of a bygone era. There are several options to visit the Queen Mary:

  • Self-guided tours take visitors more than 1,020 meters long Queen Mary, in the engine room to the wheelhouse. It is cheaper, but the tour route is poorly marked and the big ship can be quite daunting, to travel on their own.
  • Daily guided tours explore the glorious past of the Queen Mary, the luxurious dining room to the indoor pool.
  • The ghosts and legends of the visit of Queen Mary directed paranormal and historic events in the boat. Include night tours haunted explorations and midnight ghost tours led by paranormal experts.
  • Every Halloween, the Queen Mary is home to destroy, an event billed as "terrorist party."

The Scorpion, a submarine-class Russian Foxtrot, is just below the bow of the Queen Mary at anchor. A visit to the places and narrow military terms (78 crew members shared two showers and three toilets) provides an interesting contrast to the Queen Mary and luxury.

Queen Mary review and rating

A few years ago, the Queen Mary was a clean and well organized with a lot of reforms that are nice to visit.

Unfortunately, we found the Queen Mary unkempt and disorganized, visitors can experience May 2011 We have a ticket for the lead, but says that the audio tour is included. None of the staff were there to help and instructions aimlessly for a while before realizing that we go upstairs to start the tour. After that, the traffic signs were extremely low or completely absent. Unfortunately, we soon gave up and left.

If you decide to visit, a tour is a better idea - it will help you to understand what you see and not worry about getting lost.

Although the visitor experience could be improved, the Queen Mary is the fascinating story - and in some places, still shows a glimmer of its former prestige. A visit is best for those who are interested in history or the glamor of yesteryear had before the boat are to be usurped as a means of sea transport. Otherwise, it's a bit far from all the attractions of the Los Angeles area to make it worthwhile.

Hotel Queen Mary

You can also sleep in the old Cottages Hotel Queen Mary, set on a transatlantic trip with Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable and others. The small rooms are reasonably priced, but a little dark and cramped. For a taste of the luxury of a bygone era, splurge on a luxury cabin or suite image. And do not be fooled as I was, fluorescent lamps, which were now seem outdated in the rooms as modern as could be when the Queen Mary was built.

Brief history of the Queen Mary

Bigger, faster and more powerful than its predecessor, the ship Titanic, the RMS Queen Mary has a long career that had included 1,001 successful Atlantic crossings. By John Brown shipyard on the Clyde in Scotland in 1937, the Queen Mary has performed the record for the fastest crossing of the North Atlantic every time, and for three years the rich and famous across the Atlantic in luxury. During World War II, to use the implementation troops and later for war brides and children in the United States and Canada before returning to a cruise ship.

In 1967, when the owner sold the Cunard Queen Mary $ 3,450,000 and made his 516th and final voyage to Long Beach, California, December 9, 1967, the vessel was docked at times and was removed here.

8 ways to get Disneyland vacation disaster

For many people Disneyland Anaheim is the dream journey, a journey of his life. Why spend all your time online, or pay too much for your journey? Our tips will help you common mistakes Anaheim Disneyland and Disney California Adventure to avoid making visitors.

8 Ways Smart visitors at Disneyland in Anaheim

These tips apply to both parks at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

  1. Keep your ticket safe: If you (without having to buy new ones) to lose your tickets, which are not interchangeable and you can do with your Fast Pass, also need. Many of us visitors a rope around his neck to save everything Disneyland and if one is used, you will not have to go through check their bags every 10 minutes, to worry that something had fallen. Take fashion sense to the wind and join the crowd - that prevent you could end up as the people were in customer service right now, to mourn over in front of us about lost tickets. A somewhat fashion-conscious method is a luggage tag, your bag or belt fasten.
  2. Lighten the load: Every ounce that you carry, you have to wear all day. Start by emptying the bag and think about what you decide to put on. I ditch library cards, grocery cards everyone else in the interest of maintaining the portfolio of light. A pack or backpack banana is not convenient, Disneyland as it gets in the way when climbing. Instead, try a small bag with a long strap that can slip over the head and in the body. If you go there and you realize that you're wearing too much, you can rent a locker. You are at the point near the entrance and found objects in each park.
  3. Park Packages: If you buy something in Disneyland, you do not have to wear all day. If you stay at the Disneyland Resort, you can have your purchases directly at the hotel. Otherwise, you may be wondering where to leave their packets, and then later pick up near the entrance. When you buy earlier in the day, you can also avoid the rush of last minute shopping at the end of the day.
  4. Do not wait in line: We have 7 ways to avoid the line, both within and outside the park and here is a teaser suspicion is Fastpasses are free and even if some people think they are too much trouble, you can easily save hours in line.
  5. Indecision is expensive: Waiting too long to buy tickets while you decide what you want, and the price could rise. If you decide to spend the whole day in a park and stick to it, you can buy the cheapest ticket day / park buy and save money on one of the most expensive items in the budget Disneyland.
  6. Make the most out of it: you can one mile per hour you are going to the park and adds so a lot of people too tired to stay all day. Instead of playing until you drop, take one or two hours lunch break and return in the sequel. He spends more hours in total in the park and you can have the most fun for your money.
  7. Manner Dinner: Food in the park is expensive. You can not bring a picnic inside, but you can make your sandwiches and bottles of water from a well or a picnic and park it in a closet. Some visitors also like to leave the park and eat at Disney or in one of the restaurants in the area, to save a few bucks, but tickets are much more expensive than the food, and then think about the garbage when I could have spent hours in Parks instead.
  8. Complaints Fireworks: If you are tired of the crowds, but still want to see the fireworks, watching from the roof of the Mickey & Friends parking structure. Support under the gateway and see not only the light show of fireworks, pyrotechnics, but regular Fantasmic. When the fireworks are over, you can be in your car and on the ground before the rest of the crowd arrives. This strategy works even if you are not parked in the lot. Just take the tram to the beach Mickey & Friends, then take one back to the place you should go.
