At 14,494 feet, Mount Whitney, the highest point is not only in California, but all of the adjacent United States. Geographically it is in Sequoia National Park, but you can not (or seen) the main part of the park. However, it is easy to spot as it travels in the United States Highway 395 east of the Sierra Nevada, near Lone Pine.

At the other extreme, if you came here from a search engine and see more Badwater in Death Valley is 282 feet below sea level making it the lowest makes, and not only in California but in North America - and is only 84.5 miles (136 , 0 km) away (literally straight line).
