California State Bird: California quail

California Quail (

Lophortyx californica) could easily be the sweetest symbol California, with her cheek pumping and black jersey. It is a robust and adaptable creature, in flocks of up to 60 years, except the breeding season observed during the spring, when divided into two parts. They are more common in areas with low chaparral and grass and walk along the Pacific coast of Mexico in the south-central British Columbia.
